After they are ejected out of the whale, he is overjoyed and tells Dory she was right! So.he feels the need to thank the whale.but what are we met with? No response the whale doesn't say anything, instead Dory completely does a UNO reverse and says "I wish I could speak whale" this dismissal makes the scene so much less impactful as it completely disregards everything that just happened. Despite this Dory encourages him to keep going. The whole scene where Dory and Marlin are in the whale is supposed to showcase the fear he has of losing his son, and how he has a hard time trusting anyone, because he is afraid. Destiny says "thank you" to Dory and she replies "you're welcome" these examples to me only cement the fact that the scene did actually exist at some point simply because the new version doesn't make much sense when you think about it. I'm not the type to disassociate things, but better examples would be from Moana or actually in Finding Dory where the situation is reversed. SpongeBob looks nothing like Marlin or Dory. My memory is more visual, and when I recall things I can see the characters involved. Your theory assumes that I have also watched this particular episode of SpongeBob, and that I somehow mixed up the two, but that's not how I remember it. Maybe that's where they originally got the idea from. I'm I creating a false memory? If so, why do I remember it so clearly? It doesn't make sense to me.I am just wondering if anyone else remembers it this way.

What's weird is if you search "Whale says you're welcome" on youtube, Moana is one of the first results you get.
#Finding nemo whale movie
They also flip this in Finding Dory, where Destiny says "Thank, you!" and Dory replies "You're Welcome!" I also realize in the movie Moana there is a whole song dedicated to the saying "You're Welcome" but this movie came out long after finding Nemo. So, this leads us to believe whales don't actually speak slowly, and the only reason Dory would speak that way was so that her friend would understand her through the pipes, which she conflated with having to speak whale. In Finding Dory, Destiny speaks English just fine. You hear the whale reply in a distant voice "You're Welcome!" in plain English, Marlin and Dory look at each like WTF? I don't know why I remember it this way, but I believe it gave this scene more of a comedic impact. When the whale expels them, Marlin try's to say thank you in a whale voice. I've watched this movie dozens of times with my kid, and I swear they changed this scene. On my honor, so help me.I don't know if it's me, but this is eating me up inside. I promise to watch all the making-of features, listen to the complete audio-visual commentary, and search diligently for Easter Eggs. Choose the commentary!Īll scientific exploration is an act of discovery, so pick a button and discover what happens.

Well, they might listen to me I speak mammal. Uh! I'd like to see it with the commentary! Okay, optical orbits up front, and let's pick a button. Welcome explorers! So much to see, so much to learn.
